reading the astrology: raye’s success from restriction to triumph
So, I pulled the natal chart for the day Raye was born, and looked at 3 milestone dates regarding her recent success and how these astrology transits interacted with the natal chart on the day that she was born.
The day she first spoke out on twitter about the lack of autonomy as an artist being tied to a record label (29/06/2021)
Second, the date she independently released her album ‘My 21st Century Blues’ (03/02/2023)
Thirdly, her breaking records by taking 6 BRIT Awards home as a result of the album. (02/03/2024)
Even though I’ve pulled many charts, part of me lights up when I find a correlation in the maths! Yeah, the foundation of astrology is basically math.
The common thread between these three dates is that each time, the natal Jupiter was being conjunct by another planet. What’s interesting is Jupiter in the Zodiac tells us about the journey of growth. Aquarius is the collective sign, where we do something for community. When Jupiter is here the individuals journey of growth will be significantly impacted by groups of people. So lets look at the 3 dates individually.
29/06/2021 - Speaking out about label during
Transiting Saturn conjunct Natal Jupiter
A keyword of Saturn is restriction and when it transits Aquarius it gives ‘restriction by groups of people which in Raye’s case was the Polydor label. The desire to release an album relates to Jupiter in regards to its process of expansion. Therefore, in astrology language, this describes RAYE being constrained in her desire to release an album. And since Saturn also rules time, it’s clear she reached her wits end on the 29th June with these tweets as Saturn pressed onto her Jupiter placement.
03/02/2023 - Album Release Transiting Sun conjunct Natal Jupiter
As we jump forward RAYE had cut the ties and got busy with what she needed to do to independently release her album My 21st century Blues. On the album she shared with us a significant part of her personal journey, exploring themes that many people struggle with.
On this day, the Sun was conjunct her Jupiter in Aquarius, which indicates public expansion and a sharing of self with others. That when we now see Mars conjunct Jupiter, Raye breaks the record of taking home the most Brit Awards, including Album of the Year. When transiting Mars conjuncts Natal Jupiter And this can manifest as beating the odds that were against you and achieving success! Mars drives forward the good fortune that is Jupiter.
When I use astrology as a framework to look at somebody’s success, I’m not overlooking the work they have put in to get there. But rather looking at celestial events that may have an astral hand in their rise. In this case, we see Jupiter being activated on three milestone dates for Raye’s recent success.
This makes me think Raye has a day chart, purely based on Jupiters beneficiary activity, because in Hellenistic astrology people born in the day have a more favourable relationship with Jupiter than those born in the night. Although I don’t know her time of birth, but maybe one day I will? I’d sign an NDA if required hehe!
